Mr Muggs the Library Cat

A review by Domonic E

What is it about?
It's about a cat called Mr Muggs, who lives in the local library to keep out rats. But he gives the rat some food for playing dead.
What is my favourite part?
When they read a book and become rock stars.

Characters:
Mr Muggs, the staff, Mr Moon, Miss Devine, Pablo the rat and Pablos family.

Grandma McGarvey joins the scrum

A book review by Grace Madden

Grandma McGarvey joins the scrum was written by Jenny Hessell and Illustrated by Trevor Pye.

This picture book is about what happens when Grandma McGarvey's car breaks down. She walks around trying to find help and ends up in a rugby match!! She scores a try and leads the home team to victory.
After the match she gets the lads to push her car!!

I give this book a 4 star rating.

Author Jill Marshall visits

We had two awesome sessions with author Jill Marshall. Jill wrote the Jane Blonde Series and the picture book Kave Tina.
Jill talked to us about her passion for writing and answered so many of our questions. She also showed us how to plan and write a story.

Maybe one day one of our present pupils will come back as a visiting author with many of there books.

Our library is OPEN

This was the first week we opened the library doors to children before school, at interval and at lunch time.

It was a huge success that run very smooth thanks to our new librarians.

Well done librarians.

Remembering the ANZACS

This week our focus has been on ANZAC day. We had a display in the library that teachers and children shared. Anzac bickies were made by the children and this morning (25th April) some children marched in the Anzac parade. Aleesha and Amelia put a wreeth at the bottom of the memorial.

Mrs Williams Pick of the Week

Have you read any Geronimo Stilton books????
Well here is a new book written by Geronimo that I think you will enjoy.
This book is written about Geronimo's sister Thea Stilton.

Thea teaches a journalism class at her old school and becomes friends with some young students in her class. The adventure takes off from there.

This book will be available for issue next week so check it out in the library when you come to visit.

Our new library

On Friday the 12th February 2010 Room 3 became the first class to visit and take home library books from our new library.

The children were really quiet in the library, reading lots of the new books.
Everyone liked the mountain on the wall and the mezzanine area where children can sit and read or play a game with a friend.

When Room 11 came to visit we talked about some book titles they would like us to buy for the library. We are going to have a suggestion book the children can add to.
